New Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): Families of injured Delhi Police personnel on Friday held a press conference at the Constitution Club, detailing the alleged brutal attacks faced by police officers during the Kokroach Janata Party (CJP) protest and the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on July 20 and 25.

The family members shared their accounts of the incidents, with the daughter of a sub-inspector describing how miscreants allegedly attacked her father after pulling him away from a barricade and leaving him unconscious for hours. The wife of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) described her husband’s return home after the incident as a traumatic night for her and their two-year-old daughter. Another woman said her husband’s helmet was damaged after being struck with stones and flower pots.

The daughter of a Delhi Police sub-inspector, who was injured during clashes between police personnel and protesters in Delhi, said, “On the 25th, a mob of troublemakers dragged my father away and nearly beat him to death near the stage at Jantar Mantar. The incident took place at around 2:00 p.m. on July 25. He remained unconscious at RML Hospital for nearly four hours. At around 10:00 p.m., his colleagues brought him home. His uniform was completely soaked in blood. Seeing him in that condition was extremely painful for our family.”

She said that, despite the grief and distress, they decided to seek justice for her father. She received support from the families of other police personnel and approached the Supreme Court. She requested a lawyer to represent their case before the apex court.

The lawyer assured them that, as citizens of the country, they were entitled to equal rights and would also receive justice.
