New Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has resigned from the party's primary membership, citing personal reasons for his decision. The BJP has not yet issued any official statement regarding his resignation.

Shehzad Poonawalla has been a well-known figure in Indian politics. He was previously associated with the Indian National Congress. In 2017, he publicly questioned the party's presidential election process, alleging that no genuine opportunity had been provided for any candidate to contest against Rahul Gandhi and that the outcome of the election had been predetermined. Following the controversy, he resigned from the Congress.

After leaving the Congress, Poonawalla joined the BJP and went on to serve as the party's National Spokesperson. In this role, he became one of the party's prominent public faces, regularly presenting the BJP's position on political and contemporary issues through television debates and press conferences.
