
New Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to organise a seven-month-long celebration across the country to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas. As part of the programme, BJP national president Nitin Nabin handed over urns containing the sacred soil from the birthplace of Sant Ravidas in Varanasi to state-level party organisations that had gathered from across the country.
These urns will be taken to villages and streets across the respective states as part of the nationwide outreach programme.
An 11-member Delhi BJP team carrying an urn filled with the sacred soil from Sant Ravidas’ birthplace reached Delhi on Friday. The team was welcomed at the Delhi-Noida border by Delhi Government Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam, Delhi BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha president Lajpat Rai, MLAs Raj Kumar Bhatia and Ravikant, Delhi BJP vice-presidents Vinod Bacheti and Kaushal Sharma, Minister Gaurav Khari, party spokesperson Yasir Jilani, office secretary Kailash Jain, Mayur Vihar district president Vijendra Dhama, Shahdara district president Deepak Gaba and other party leaders.
According to the BJP, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra and National President of the Scheduled Caste Morcha Lal Singh Arya will felicitate the 11-member team at Sant Ravidas Vishram Dham in Karol Bagh on Friday.
During the programme, the urn containing the sacred soil brought from the birthplace of Sant Ravidas will be placed for devotees to pay their respects.
