New Delhi, 30 July (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described respect for nature, the environment and all creation as the very foundation of human existence, urging citizens to embrace gratitude and a spirit of service towards the natural world. He called upon people to contribute to building a healthy, prosperous and strong nation through environmental conservation and respect for nature.

In a post on X on Thursday, the Prime Minister said, Respect for nature, the environment and all creation lies at the very core of our existence. Let us, with deep gratitude and a spirit of service towards them, participate in building a healthy, prosperous and strong nation.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam:

“शं नो द्यावापृथिवी पूर्वहूतौ शमन्तरिक्षं दृशये नो अस्तु।

शं न ओषधीर्वनिनो भवन्तु शं नो रजसस्पतिरस्तु जिष्णुः॥”

Explaining its meaning, the Prime Minister said the verse prays that the heavens and the Earth may be auspicious for humanity, and that the atmosphere may remain pleasant and conducive to well-being. It further invokes blessings from medicinal herbs, forests and vegetation, while expressing the hope that all elements and forces of nature continue to be benevolent and beneficial for the welfare of humankind.
