Guwahati, 30 July (HS): JSW Steel Chairman Sajjan Jindal has donated ₹5 crore to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF) to support people affected by the devastating floods in the state.
Sharing the information on social media platform X on Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said the contribution was made quietly without any prior announcement or publicity.
The Chief Minister said that the donation came to light only when officials reviewed the CMRF bank statement on Thursday morning. He described the gesture as a silent act of compassion, noting that there was no communication or public announcement before the transfer.
Dr. Sarma also mentioned that Sajjan Jindal's mother, Savitri Jindal, Chairperson Emeritus of the OP Jindal Group, hails from Assam, making the contribution especially meaningful for the people of the state.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Assam, the Chief Minister thanked Sajjan Jindal for his generosity and humility. He assured that every rupee received in the Chief Minister's Relief Fund would be used judiciously for the welfare and rehabilitation of flood-affected people across the state.----------
