Uttar Dinajpur, 30 July (H.S.): The BJP has raised serious allegations of alleged financial irregularities against Itahar Block Development Officer (BDO) Dibyendu Sarkar in Uttar Dinajpur district and submitted a written complaint seeking an investigation into the matter on Thursday.

Members of the BJP from the Itahar Assembly constituency have also demanded a comprehensive audit of government expenditure and alleged that bills related to various expenses were submitted to the government in the name of the BDO. The allegations reportedly include expenses for installing a swing on the roof of the BDO's residence, purchasing a trolley bag, payment of a domestic help's salary and the purchase of meat.

BJP workers and leaders visited the concerned office on Thursday and demanded that all bills and payments made during the previous Trinamool Congress regime be thoroughly scrutinised. They questioned how government funds could allegedly be used for such expenses.

BJP Executive Committee member Nimai Singh alleged that several expenses were incurred on the instructions of the BDO. He claimed that bills included the installation of a swing at the BDO's residence, a payment of Rs 4,000 towards the monthly salary of a domestic worker and a bill for eight kilograms of mutton, besides the purchase of a trolley bag.

The BDO, however, rejected the allegations. Dibyendu Sarkar said he was unaware of where the BJP leaders had obtained the bills from and asserted that no payment had been made against any of them. He termed the bills “fake.”

The BJP has demanded a detailed audit and investigation to establish the authenticity of the bills and determine whether any government funds were actually misused.
