Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar, 30 July (HS): As many as 29 employees working in Food and Drugs
Administration laboratory made a representation to the FDA Minister Narhari
Zirwal for work overload after FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe took over, and launched
a campaign against drugs manufacturing and food outlets.
The employees
have stated that suddenly work in double shift was started and even holidays of
Saturdays and Sundays have been cancelled. The employees alleged that they are
required to work from 9 am to 12 midnight.
The department
is already working with less staff. The employees have appealed to fill up the
vacant posts as soon as possible to reduce the work load.
The tests under
Indian Pharmacopia (IP), British Pharmacopia (BP), and US Pharmacopia (USP) rules
are required to be conducted. With the heavy workload mistakes in test results
are likely to occur. The laboratories have limited facilities relating to
technology, equipment and inadequate staff.
There was no
official response from the minister’s office.
