New Delhi, 30 July (H.S.): No action will be taken against those who participated in protests against the alleged NEET examination paper leak in Delhi, the Delhi government’s Home Department said in an official statement issued on Thursday. It clarified that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions, protection will not be extended only to individuals with a criminal background.

It is noteworthy that, till July 29, the Delhi Police had registered a total of 13 cases in connection with protests related to alleged irregularities in the NEET (UG) examination.

Following approval from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Home Department issued a statement stating, “No adverse legal action will be taken by any police authority in Delhi against individuals who participated in these protests. However, this protection will not apply to persons having criminal antecedents.”

The department further stated that cases of individuals who were arrested or detained during these protests would be reviewed, and the process of their release would be completed at the earliest.

It added that no further action would be initiated against the participants of these protests and the cases would be considered closed, except in matters involving individuals with a criminal record.
