Jalpaiguri, 30 July (H.S.): Tension prevailed in Jalpaiguri on Thursday when Pranayita Das, a member of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad and daughter of absconding Trinamool Congress leader Krishna Das, arrived at Kotwali Police Station. Soon after her arrival, BJP women workers staged a protest outside the police station.

The protesters allegedly surrounded Pranayita Das's vehicle and threw eggs at it. They also stopped the vehicle and raised slogans, triggering tension and confusion on the police station premises.

As the situation escalated, police personnel immediately intervened and formed a security cordon around the vehicle. Pranayita Das's car was escorted inside the police station. The situation gradually returned to normal following police intervention.

According to police sources, Pranayita Das appeared at Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station on Thursday in compliance with a court directive. She is also scheduled to be produced before the district court later in the day.
