Guwahati, 30 July (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said its workers have been actively engaged in relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-affected districts of Assam, standing by affected families with compassion and commitment.

In a press statement issued from the party's state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, BJP Assam Pradesh Media Panelist Ashish Bharali said party workers have been working round the clock since the devastating floods struck the state. He said their efforts have included rescuing stranded residents, distributing relief materials and assisting in the rehabilitation of damaged homes and villages.

According to the statement, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has been carrying out cleanliness drives by removing sludge from houses, courtyards and public spaces to help restore normalcy in the affected areas. Bharali said BJP workers, from the booth level to the state leadership, have remained actively involved in relief operations since the beginning of the crisis.

The statement added that BJP MLAs Mayur Borgohain, Dharmeswar Konwar, Suraj Dihingia and Sushanta Borgohain have been leading relief and rehabilitation efforts in their respective constituencies. Senior leaders and ministers, including Bimal Borah, Atul Bora, Ajanta Neog, Rameswar Teli and Pabitra Margherita, have also been monitoring relief operations, while Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia have visited the affected areas to review the situation.

The party further stated that it has dispatched flood relief materials worth ₹16 crore from its state headquarters, including 1.80 lakh Mekhela-Chadors, 1.80 lakh children's T-shirts and 1.50 lakh mosquito nets. It also welcomed the decision of The Assam Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd. to grant a six-month EMI moratorium to borrowers in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts as a relief measure for flood-affected families.

Reiterating its commitment, the BJP said it would continue to stand with the flood victims and extend all possible support until normal life is fully restored.----------
