Guwahati, 30 July (HS): The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) has kept in abeyance the ongoing preparation and publication of the electoral rolls for the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) Elections, 2026 until further orders.

The Commission said the decision was taken due to the severe and unprecedented flood situation affecting several districts of Upper Assam, which has disrupted the normal functioning of the district administration as well as the election machinery.

ASEC stated that a revised schedule for the preparation and publication of the electoral rolls will be announced separately once the situation improves.--------
