Guwahati, 30 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday praised the employees of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for their tireless efforts in restoring electricity supply to flood-affected areas across the state.

The recent devastating floods severely affected homes, agricultural land and essential infrastructure, particularly in the upper Assam districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat, disrupting power supply in several areas.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister said electricity supply had been temporarily suspended in many flood-hit locations as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. As floodwaters began to recede, APDCL personnel worked round the clock to repair damaged electric poles, transmission lines, transformers and other network infrastructure on a war footing.

Dr. Sarma said that after extensive safety inspections, electricity supply has been restored in almost all affected areas. He expressed gratitude to the power warriors whose dedicated efforts brought electricity back to thousands of households, hospitals, educational institutions, business establishments and other essential services during the crisis.----------
