Guwahati, 30 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that restoration work on flood-damaged embankments and breached riverbanks is progressing on a war footing across the state.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister stated that despite adverse conditions and intermittent rises in river water levels, repair works are being carried out rapidly using geo tubes, geo bags, bamboo palisading and other engineering measures.

He said significant progress has already been achieved at several locations, including multiple sites in Jorhat district. The remaining damaged stretches are also being repaired with the deployment of all necessary machinery, equipment and resources.

Expressing confidence that the pace of restoration will further increase as river water levels continue to recede, Dr. Sarma said all concerned departments are working round the clock with full dedication to restore every affected site at the earliest.----------
