New Delhi, 03 July (H.S.): India's domestic equity benchmarks traded in positive territory during early trading on Friday despite witnessing volatility at the opening. The market opened with gains, briefly came under selling pressure immediately after the opening bell, but recovered as buyers returned with sustained purchasing interest. By 10:00 a.m., the BSE Sensex was up 0.61 per cent, while the NSE Nifty had gained 0.66 per cent.

Among the frontline stocks, HCL Technologies, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv, Hindalco Industries and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories emerged as the top gainers by 10:00 a.m., advancing between 1.94 per cent and 3.73 per cent. On the other hand, Adani Enterprises, TMPV, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India and Tech Mahindra were trading lower, declining between 0.34 per cent and 0.48 per cent.

Market breadth remained positive during early trade. Of the 2,734 stocks actively traded, 1,763 were trading in the green while 971 were in the red. Among the 30 Sensex constituents, 22 stocks were trading higher and eight were in negative territory. Similarly, 37 of the 50 Nifty stocks were trading with gains, while 13 were trading lower.

The BSE Sensex opened 650.22 points higher at 78,152.34. Soon after the opening, selling pressure dragged the index down by nearly 300 points to an intraday low of 77,854.83. However, renewed buying helped the benchmark recover steadily. By 10:00 a.m., the Sensex was trading 474.30 points higher at 77,976.42.

The NSE Nifty opened with a gain of 199.95 points at 24,375.65. Intense buying and selling led to fluctuations in the index during the initial session. Selling pressure pulled the Nifty down by nearly 80 points from its opening level to an intraday low of 24,295.15, while fresh buying pushed it to a high of 24,378.15. By 10:00 a.m., the index was trading 160.70 points higher at 24,336.40.

In the previous trading session on Thursday, the Sensex had closed 579.48 points, or 0.75 per cent, higher at 77,502.12. The Nifty had also ended the session with a gain of 169.85 points, or 0.71 per cent, at 24,175.70.
