Kolkata, 29 July (H.S.): Knight Riders Sports has appointed former player and key member of its coaching staff Ryan ten Doeschate as the Head of Cricket Strategy. In his new role, ten Doeschate will lead cricket strategy, talent identification, player recruitment and development across the Knight Riders Group’s global franchise network.

Ten Doeschate will be responsible for designing strategies related to scouting, player selection, team combinations and performance evaluation. He will also work closely with the coaching staff of various franchises to establish a unified cricketing philosophy and working approach across the entire Knight Riders network.

As part of his expanded responsibilities, he will also serve as an assistant coach for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the International League T20 (ILT20), and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket (MLC).

Knight Riders Sports Chief Executive Officer Venky Mysore, in an official statement issued on Wednesday, expressed his happiness at welcoming Ryan back into the Knight Riders family. He said that Ryan’s deep understanding of the franchise’s cricketing culture, along with his experience in international and franchise cricket, makes him the ideal candidate for the role.

Mysore added that under ten Doeschate’s leadership, the Knight Riders network will gain a fresh direction in its continued growth and development.

Speaking about his appointment, Ryan ten Doeschate said he was delighted to be reunited with the Knight Riders family. He described the opportunity as an exciting platform to work with coaching and analysis teams across various global franchises, strengthen scouting and player development systems, and build a long-term cricket strategy.

Ten Doeschate’s association with the Knight Riders began in 2011 as a player. He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squads that won the Indian Premier League (IPL) titles in 2012 and 2014.

Later, he became a member of the coaching group in 2022 and played an important role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ third IPL title triumph in 2024.
