New Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): Global markets presented mixed cues on Wednesday, with US equities ending the previous session on a mixed note, while Dow Jones Futures traded lower in early hours. European markets closed higher in the previous session, whereas Asian markets witnessed mixed trading during the day.

On Wall Street, trading remained mixed during the previous session. The S&P 500 Index gained 0.21 per cent to close at 7,428.78. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.22 per cent to settle at 24,876.91 at the close of trading. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading 0.14 per cent lower at 52,675.91 during early trade.

European markets maintained a positive momentum in the previous session. The FTSE Index advanced 89.27 points, or 0.82 per cent, to close at 10,871.02. Similarly, France's CAC 40 Index climbed 0.62 per cent to end the session at 8,458.78. Germany's DAX Index also gained 102.98 points, or 0.40 per cent, to settle at 25,464.01.

Asian markets were trading on a mixed note on Wednesday. Of the nine major Asian markets, five benchmark indices were trading in positive territory, while three were in the red. Thailand's SET Composite Index remained unchanged as the country's stock market was closed for a public holiday.

India's GIFT Nifty rose 173.50 points, or 0.72 per cent, to trade at 24,265. Singapore's Straits Times Index also moved higher, gaining 0.41 per cent to reach 5,638.98.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index posted strong gains, rising 363.15 points, or 1.43 per cent, to trade at 25,674.

On the downside, Japan's Nikkei Index declined by 1,374.92 points to 60,990. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index fell 1.04 per cent to 6,067.13.

South Korea's Kospi Index witnessed a sharp decline, falling 492.10 points, or 8.90 per cent, to 5,531.56.

Taiwan's Weighted Index also remained under significant pressure, dropping 1,650.93 points, or 3.97 per cent, to trade at 39,952.43. Meanwhile, China's Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.53 per cent to 3,793.18.
