New Delhi, 27 July (H.S.): Global markets offered positive cues for Indian equities on Monday, supported by easing tensions in West Asia and a decline in international crude oil prices. US markets ended the previous session on a mixed note, while Dow Jones Futures were trading higher during Asian hours. European markets closed firmly in positive territory, and Asian equities witnessed mixed trading.

US markets ended the previous session with mixed performances amid developments in West Asia. The S&P 500 Index edged up 0.05 per cent to close at 7,411.98. In contrast, the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.64 per cent to settle at 24,975.82. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading 293.58 points, or 0.57 per cent, higher at 52,240.83, indicating a positive opening sentiment.

European markets maintained strong momentum throughout the previous trading session. The FTSE Index gained 97.06 points, or 0.90 per cent, to close at 10,736.23. France's CAC 40 advanced 0.87 per cent to finish at 8,372.28, while Germany's DAX climbed 335.88 points, or 1.34 per cent, to close at 25,099.

Asian markets were trading on a mixed note on Monday. Of the nine major Asian indices, five were trading lower while four remained in positive territory. Gift Nifty was up 125 points, or 0.52 per cent, at 23,953, signalling a positive start for Indian markets. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 215.77 points, or 0.86 per cent, to 25,179. China's Shanghai Composite advanced 0.40 per cent to 3,829.39, while Singapore's Straits Times Index gained 0.23 per cent to trade at 5,601.46.

On the downside, Taiwan's Weighted Index fell 528.60 points, or 1.23 per cent, to 43,126.24. South Korea's Kospi declined 0.81 per cent to 6,637.06. Thailand's SET Composite slipped 0.64 per cent to 1,633.87, Japan's Nikkei Index edged down 0.06 per cent to 64,570, and Indonesia's Jakarta Composite eased 0.05 per cent to 6,193.44.
