BEIJING, July 25 (HS/RIA Novosti) - Beijing and Moscow should strengthen coordination in multilateral forums and jointly advance the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a statement published on Saturday.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

The two sides should strengthen coordination in multilateral forums, the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted Wang as saying.

Beijing hopes for continued mutual support at the United Nations and other international organizations, Wang added.

Both sides should jointly support the further development and strengthening of the SCO, promote the Shanghai Spirit, and inject new momentum into improving global governance and building a community with a shared future for mankind, the minister was quoted as saying.

The SCO has now become an important force contributing to global stability, while the organization's international standing continues to grow, the Chinese foreign minister said.

The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. Its members include Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Its partner countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, Laos, the Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
