New Delhi, 23 July (H.S.): InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of India’s largest airline IndiGo, has announced its financial results for the first quarter (April-June) of the current financial year 2026-27. The company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 238 crore during the quarter, compared to a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,176.3 crore in the same period of the previous financial year 2025-26.

According to the company, its total income increased to Rs 25,614.1 crore during the first quarter of the current financial year, compared to Rs 21,542.6 crore recorded in the corresponding period last year. However, the company’s overall expenses also increased during the quarter.

IndiGo said that the combined impact of rising fuel prices, adverse foreign exchange fluctuations and the ongoing crisis in West Asia affected its quarterly profitability, resulting in a net loss of Rs 2.4 billion (Rs 238 crore).

The company stated that higher fuel costs, foreign exchange losses and disruptions caused by the West Asia situation had a negative impact on earnings. InterGlobe Aviation is the parent company of IndiGo, which holds more than 66 per cent share of India’s domestic aviation market.

IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia said that the operating environment remained challenging during the first quarter of the current financial year. He said high fuel expenses and network disruptions caused by the situation in West Asia impacted the company’s profitability.

Despite these challenges, Bhatia said demand remained strong, and improved yields along with growing customer preference helped the company achieve year-on-year revenue growth. During the quarter, IndiGo served more than 3.1 crore passengers.

Bhatia further said that rising fuel costs and the depreciation of the Indian rupee resulted in an additional loss of around Rs 200 crore for the airline during the first quarter.

He added that uncertainties are likely to continue in the near term, but the company remains focused on strengthening its network, expanding customer choices and creating long-term value for all stakeholders.
