Bhubaneswar, 22 July (H.S.): Odisha reported a fresh COVID-19 case on Wednesday after a woman from Berhampur tested positive for the virus. She has been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur, where her condition is reported to be stable.

The patient has been shifted to an isolation ward and is currently under medical observation.

Confirming the development, MKCG Medical College Superintendent Prof. Sudeepa Das said the woman is clinically stable and there is no immediate cause for concern.

One COVID-19-positive patient has been admitted and kept in isolation. Her condition is stable, and she is under observation, Prof. Das said.

He noted that the currently circulating strain is behaving like other seasonal respiratory viruses and is not associated with severe illness or any highly virulent variant.

During the monsoon season, respiratory infections such as coughs, colds, and viral illnesses are common. COVID-19 is now exhibiting a similar pattern. People should continue to follow basic preventive measures, including wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining hand hygiene, and consulting a doctor if symptoms persist, he said.

Prof. Das further clarified that there is no evidence of any new or dangerous COVID-19 variant currently in circulation. He urged the public to remain vigilant, follow appropriate precautions, and avoid unnecessary panic.
