Kathmandu, 22 July (H.S.): A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal’s far-western province early Tuesday morning, with tremors felt in Bajhang district and parts of neighbouring areas.

According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the earthquake occurred at around 4:40 am, with its epicentre located in the Kotdewal area of Bajhang district. The intensity of the quake was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale.

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre said the tremors were felt not only in Bajhang but also in some parts of the adjoining Baitadi district. Several residents, who were asleep at the time, panicked and rushed out of their homes following the shaking.

No reports of any loss of life, injuries, or property damage have been received so far.

Nepal is considered highly vulnerable to earthquakes due to its location in the Himalayan seismic zone. Low to moderate-intensity earthquakes occur frequently in different parts of the country.
