Sivasagar (Assam), 22 July (HS): As the flood situation continues to worsen across Upper Assam, Assam Minister Bimal Bora visited the flood-affected residents of Betbari at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday to assess the situation and extend support to those affected.

During his visit, the minister distributed food packets and other essential relief materials among flood-hit families, assuring them of all possible assistance from the state government.

Relentless flooding has wreaked havoc across Sivasagar district, submerging homes, roads and vast stretches of agricultural land. The deluge has left normal life severely disrupted in several areas.

The situation has become particularly critical at Gaurisagar, where floodwaters are flowing over National Highway-37, raising fears that road connectivity between Upper and Lower Assam could be snapped at any moment if the water level rises further.

More than 50 villages under Morajar Mouza and Jakaichuk Mouza in Sivasagar district have been inundated, with thousands of residents facing hardship as floodwaters continue to rise. Emergency response and relief efforts are underway in the affected areas.-----------
