Sonari (Assam), 22 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced an immediate ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh for the next of those who lost their lives in the ongoing floods across the state.
The announcement was made during the Chief Minister's visit to review the flood situation in Sonari, where he interacted with affected residents and assessed the relief measures being carried out by the district administration.
Speaking to mediapersons, Dr. Sarma said the state government is extending full support to flood-hit families through the district administrations. He acknowledged that relief materials are yet to reach some villages as floodwaters have cut off all access routes.
The Chief Minister said aerial distribution of relief supplies is also underway in inaccessible areas. However, he noted that delivering aid directly to every affected individual by air remains a major logistical challenge due to the prevailing conditions.
He assured that the government is making every possible effort to ensure relief reaches all flood-affected people at the earliest.----------
