New Delhi, 21 July (H.S.): Global markets presented mixed signals on Tuesday. The US equity markets ended the previous session in negative territory, although Dow Jones Futures were trading higher in early trade today. European markets delivered mixed performances in the last session, while most Asian markets were trading with gains.

The US stock market closed lower in the previous trading session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 307.16 points, or 0.59 per cent, to settle at 51,839.26. Similarly, the S&P 500 Index ended the session 0.19 per cent lower at 7,443.28. The Nasdaq Composite also slipped 0.05 per cent to close at 25,508.07.

However, Dow Jones Futures were trading higher today, gaining 116.42 points, or 0.22 per cent, to reach 51,955.68.

European markets ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE Index declined by 75.61 points, or 0.72 per cent, to close at 10,524.76. In contrast, the CAC Index edged up 0.02 per cent to finish at 8,340.11. Meanwhile, Germany’s DAX Index closed 0.06 per cent higher at 24,846.69.

Asian markets were generally trading in positive territory during Tuesday's session. Out of the nine major Asian indices, eight were trading with gains, while only one index remained in negative territory.

GIFT Nifty was the lone loser, slipping 0.17 per cent to trade at 24,242.

On the other hand, Japan’s Nikkei Index surged by 1,737.88 points, or 2.71 per cent, to 65,879. Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index advanced 1.17 per cent to 6,304.71.

South Korea’s KOSPI Index witnessed a sharp rally, climbing 307.98 points, or 4.73 per cent, to 6,824.25.

Taiwan’s Weighted Index also posted strong gains, rising by 1,353.36 points, or 3.19 per cent, to 43,803.06.

Among other Asian markets, Singapore’s Straits Times Index was up 0.77 per cent at 5,541.20, the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.62 per cent to trade at 3,819.66, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.14 per cent to 25,177, and Thailand’s SET Composite Index edged up 0.07 per cent to 1,647.10.
