Pratishthan, Gomtinagar. This three-day festival will run from July 3 to 5, in
which more than 800 varieties of mangoes will be displayed in 07 categories and

Charge) for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade
and Agricultural Export, Dinesh Pratap Singh, in a press conference on
Thursday. He informed that for the first time, a mango buyer-seller conference
will also be organised on 04th July at 'Jan Bhawan', Lucknow, so that the
gardeners can be directly connected to the market.
The Horticulture Minister stated that, along with host Uttar
Pradesh, representatives of the Horticulture Departments, progressive
gardeners, and exporters from Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh,
Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra will participate in the festival. Grafted
mango plants displayed at the festival will also be available for sale. The
Minister appealed to citizens to bring at least one plant with them and plant
it. A mango eating competition for children and a mango cuisine competition
will be key attractions. Special workshops will also be held for gardeners on
advanced technology, post-harvest management, pest and disease control, and
marketing.
Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh stated that Uttar Pradesh ranks
first in the country in mango production, producing 61.96 lakh metric tons
across an area of 3.27 lakh hectares, accounting for 26.22 percent of the
total national production. Varieties such as Dussehri, Langra, Chausa,
Gaurjeet, Lucknow Safeda, Ratol, and Amrapali are renowned worldwide and are
primarily produced in the Lucknow, Saharanpur, Meerut, Moradabad, Varanasi,
Ayodhya, and Prayagraj divisions.
According to APEDA data, there has been an unprecedented
increase in mango and pulp exports from the state. In 2024-25, exports of 404
metric tons worth Rs. 2.63 crore increased to 3,563 metric tons worth Rs. 12.67
crore in 2025-26. Mangoes from Uttar Pradesh are being exported to several

Singapore, Kuwait, New Zealand, Belgium, Japan, Italy, Qatar, and Russia. This
year also mangoes will be exported to other countries during the festival.
He informed that modern mango pack houses have been
established in Lucknow, Saharanpur, Varanasi, and Amroha, where mangoes are
pre-processed and treated according to international protocols. Construction of
a fruit testing and treatment center near Jewar Airport is underway, which will
further boost horticultural exports in the future. This year, the department
distributed approximately 15 million fruit cover bags to farmers to protect
mangoes from pests and diseases and improve their size, flavor, and shine. A 40
percent subsidy on the unit cost per hectare is also being provided for canopy
management of unproductive and old orchards. The Minister said that due to the
efforts of the Yogi government, mangoes from Uttar Pradesh are today
establishing a new identity in the fields of quality, branding, and export.
