
New Delhi, 02 July (H.S.): Global markets offered mixed cues on Thursday. U.S. equities ended lower in the previous session, although Dow Jones futures were trading in positive territory during early trade. European markets closed with mixed results, while Asian equities also witnessed a mixed trading session.
Wall Street came under pressure in the previous session following a sharp decline in technology stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.03 percent to close at 52,305.24. The S&P 500 declined 0.22 percent to settle at 7,483.23, while the Nasdaq fell 173.69 points, or 0.66 percent, to end the session at 26,040.03. Meanwhile, Dow Jones futures were trading 0.11 percent higher at 52,364.67 during early trading on Thursday.
European markets also ended the previous session on a mixed note. The FTSE index declined 0.18 percent to close at 10,478.34, while France's CAC 40 dropped 0.80 percent to 8,337.29. In contrast, Germany's DAX advanced 0.18 percent to finish at 25,040.28.
Asian markets were also trading mixed on Thursday. Of the nine major regional indices, five were trading in positive territory while four were in the red.
Japan's Nikkei index fell 995.96 points, or 1.43 percent, to 69,479. Taiwan's Weighted Index declined 431.62 points, or 0.93 percent, to 46,587.37. South Korea's Kospi witnessed heavy selling, dropping 359.97 points, or 4.53 percent, to 7,943.44. China's Shanghai Composite also traded lower, falling 0.91 percent to 4,075.31.
On the positive side, GIFT Nifty gained 144.50 points, or 0.60 percent, to trade at 24,188.50. Singapore's Straits Times Index advanced 0.34 percent to 5,179.06. Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index surged 100.33 points, or 1.73 percent, to 5,795.45. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 257.98 points, or 1.11 percent, to 23,139, while Thailand's SET Composite Index rose 0.37 percent to 1,594.08.
