New Delhi, 18 July (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT department head Amit Malviya on Saturday said that Sonam Wangchuk’s initial medical report clearly states that his medical examination was conducted with his consent.

In a post on social media platform X, Malviya said, “The initial medical report of Sonam Wangchuk is now public, and it clearly mentions that his medical examination was carried out with his consent.”

Malviya questioned the controversy surrounding the matter, saying that it was difficult to understand the reason behind the dispute. He said that in accordance with the directions of the Delhi High Court, the administration shifted Wangchuk to a hospital after his health deteriorated during his hunger strike to ensure proper medical treatment and recovery.

Targeting the opposition, Malviya asked whether it wanted Wangchuk’s health condition to worsen further so that the issue could be used as a political platform. He said that providing timely medical assistance in such circumstances was the responsibility of the administration, and turning it into a controversy was inappropriate.

Malviya said that the concerned authorities acted with sensitivity while following the court’s directions and gave the highest priority to protecting Wangchuk’s life. Describing the move as a responsible administrative step, he said that creating an unnecessary political controversy over the matter was unfortunate.

However, no immediate reaction has been received from Sonam Wangchuk or opposition parties regarding Amit Malviya’s remarks.
