Guwahati, 18 July (HS): Former Rajya Sabha MP, author and thinker Prof. Rakesh Sinha on Saturday said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) never sees a sunset and remains ever vibrant with every sunrise, describing the organisation as eternally youthful.
He was addressing a special lecture at the Sankardev Sabhagrih of Keshav Dham in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati. The programme was organised by Purvottar Bharat Adhyayan Samuh as part of the Baicharik Prabodhan Workshop. The lecture was based on the theme, Param Pujaniya Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar – A Century of Inspiration for Sangh Work.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sinha, author of Understanding RSS and Dr. K.B. Hedgewar, highlighted the life, vision and organisational philosophy of RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. He said Hedgewar opposed personality cults and emphasised equality among all volunteers, adding that every organisational experiment undertaken by him was aimed at the welfare of society.
Prof. Sinha stated that a strong and united society cannot be built unless people rise above divisions based on caste, language and community. He asserted that Hindu society should unite above all such differences with the belief that everyone is a child of Bharat Mata.
He further remarked that unity driven solely by external religious aggression cannot be permanent. Stressing the independent nature of the RSS, he said the organisation and the ruling government are separate entities, and the RSS does not function according to the dictates of those in power.
The programme, attended by more than a hundred distinguished participants, was conducted by North Assam Prant Prachar Pramukh Kishore Shivam. Head of the Department of Physics, Gauhati University, Prof. Kalpana Bora delivered the vote of thanks.-----------
