
Guwahati, 18 July (HS): A four-day national seminar on the theme From Tradition to Transformation: Integrating Indian History and Knowledge Tradition with Modern Governance is being held at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Auditorium of Cotton University in Guwahati from July 17.
The seminar has been organised by the Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Assam, in collaboration with Cotton University, North Lakhimpur University and North-Eastern Hill University (Shillong).
Chief Minister's Press Secretary and MLA Tarang Gogoi, along with Guwahati Central MLA Vijay Gupta, attended the inaugural session on Saturday as guests of honour.
The event was attended by Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana National President Prof. Ishwar Charan Vishwakarma, National Secretary Dr. Bal Mukund Pandey, National General Secretary Hemant Dhing Majumdar, Patron-in-Chief Gopal Narayan Singh, Cotton University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ramesh Deka, Registrar Dr. Hiren Deka, besides historians, vice-chancellors, college principals, academicians and young researchers from across the country.
Addressing the gathering, National Secretary Dr. Bal Mukund Pandey said that India's traditions have remained profound and rooted in human values since prehistoric times. He stressed the need to revive the country's forgotten historical and cultural heritage in its true form and ensure that the sacrifices of great patriots are preserved in the pages of history.
National General Secretary Hemant Dhing Majumdar highlighted the importance of integrating India's traditional knowledge systems and cultural roots with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and modern governance in the era of globalisation and rapid technological advancement.
The seminar also featured technical sessions on the revival of Indian heritage, unity in diversity, promotion of indigenous values, family awareness, environmental conservation, utilisation of ancient knowledge and national development. A special workshop was also organised for state secretaries, assistant secretaries, organisational secretaries and assistant organisational secretaries of the Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti from different states.
The seminar will conclude on July 19. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik will attend the valedictory session as the chief guest, while several noted historians and academicians from across the country are also expected to participate.------------
