New Delhi, 18 July (H.S.): A woman allegedly threw ink at Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday while he was protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the hospitalisation of environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk. The incident created chaos at the protest site.
Sonam Wangchuk had been sitting on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for 20 days before being admitted to Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi Police on Saturday morning. Following his hospitalisation, CJP members were staging a protest at the venue.
Earlier, Abhijeet Dipke told the media that Delhi Police had forcibly removed Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site in his absence. He alleged that Wangchuk was taken away by the police while he was not present at the location.
Deepke said that the organisation would continue the peaceful movement and that he would begin a hunger strike from Saturday. He appealed to people across the country to maintain the protest in a peaceful manner and urged everyone not to violate the rules.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has appealed to all CJP workers to vacate Jantar Mantar peacefully.
It may be noted that the CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination paper leak incidents. The organisation has announced a march to Parliament on July 20.
