Guwahati, 17 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, during a Facebook Live session on Thursday night, announced a series of major initiatives covering religious infrastructure, land reforms, employment, urban development and tea exports.

The Chief Minister said a grand Kamakhya Corridor will be developed on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor at an estimated cost of around ₹500 crore.

He said that more than 10 lakh families have benefited under Mission Basundhara, while Mission Basundhara 4.0 will be launched from December 25. A dedicated land portal will also be introduced soon, enabling people to submit land-related grievances and suggestions online.

Dr. Sarma announced that construction of vertical gardens has begun on flyovers in Guwahati, adding that similar beautification projects are being planned for flyovers in other parts of the state.

Highlighting the government's employment drive, the Chief Minister said preparations are underway to fulfil the commitment of providing two lakh government jobs. He also announced that certificates under the Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu schemes will be distributed from August 6 and 7.

The Chief Minister further revealed plans to produce a Hindi film on Ahom general Lachit Borphukan to showcase Assam's rich history to a wider audience.

Promoting Assam's tea industry, Dr. Sarma said Assam Matcha Tea is being taken to the global market. He also announced that exporters of CTC tea will receive government incentives to boost exports.------------
