Kokrajhar (Assam), 17 July (HS): The week-long historic Jaganath Rath Yatra commenced with religious fervour in Kokrajhar, with BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary offering prayers on the occasion yesterday evening.
A colourful procession marked the beginning of the festival as devotees chanted hymns in praise of Lord Jagannath, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere across the town.
As part of the tradition, the idols of Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Goddess Subhadra were ceremonially placed on a grand chariot and taken to the nearby Gundicha Temple.
The religious festival will continue till July 24 and is witnessing the participation of a large number of devotees, drawing parallels with the famous Rath Yatra celebrations in Puri.------------
