
Guwahati, 17 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has reaffirmed that no student will be denied higher education due to financial constraints, highlighting the state's commitment to supporting economically weaker students through the Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu schemes.
In a social media post on Friday, the Chief Minister said the government has created an affordable and inclusive support system to ensure financial hardships do not become a barrier to education. He stated that the two schemes are helping lakhs of students pursue their higher education dreams.
For the financial year 2026–27, the Assam Government has proposed an allocation of ₹318.37 crore under the Nijut Moina scheme, benefiting around 5.33 lakh girl students. Additionally, ₹54.97 crore has been earmarked for the Nijut Babu scheme, which is expected to support 1.08 lakh students.
The Chief Minister reiterated that fulfilling the aspirations of every student remains a top priority for the government and asserted that no obstacle should stand in the way of higher education.-----------
