Busapest, 16 July (H.S.): India's Olympic bronze medallist and Under-23 Asian champion Aman Sehrawat delivered an outstanding performance on Wednesday to claim the gold medal in the men's 57kg freestyle category at the Budapest Ranking Series 2026.

In the final of the Polyák Imre, Varga János and Kozma István Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament, popularly known as the Budapest Ranking Series, Aman defeated Georgia's Roberti Dingashvili by technical superiority with a commanding 13-3 victory to secure the title.

The 22-year-old once again underlined his status as one of the world's most promising young wrestlers. Earlier, he became India's youngest individual Olympic medallist after winning bronze at the Paris Olympics. He is also the first Indian wrestler to capture a gold medal at the Under-23 World Wrestling Championships.

Deepak Adds Bronze to India's Medal Tally

India earned another medal in the men's 61kg freestyle category, where Deepak secured the bronze medal.

In a thrilling third-place bout, Deepak edged past Azerbaijan's Nureddin Novruzov 9-8 to finish on the podium.

India Eyes Two More Bronze Medals

India remains in contention for two additional medals in the men's 65kg freestyle category.

Kumar Mohit will face Kazakhstan's Nachyn Kular in a bronze-medal match.

Meanwhile, Vishal Kaliraman will take on Kazakhstan's Ossumzhan Dastanbek in another third-place playoff.

Indian Women Wrestlers to Begin Campaign

Competition in the men's 79kg, 92kg, 97kg and 125kg freestyle categories will be held on Thursday.

The Indian women's wrestling contingent will also begin its campaign on the same day, with contests scheduled in the 50kg and 55kg categories.
