New Delhi, 15 July (H.S.): The domestic equity market witnessed a positive trend during early trading on Wednesday, with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty extending gains after opening in the green. Although the market experienced a brief bout of selling immediately after the opening bell, buying interest quickly resurfaced, enabling both indices to regain momentum. By 10:00 a.m., the Sensex was trading 0.58 per cent higher, while the Nifty had advanced 0.56 per cent.

As of 10:00 a.m., the top gainers among frontline stocks included Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finance, InterGlobe Aviation, HDFC Life and Bajaj Auto, with gains ranging between 1.89 per cent and 2.99 per cent. On the other hand, Hindalco Industries, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were trading lower, declining between 0.82 per cent and 1.35 per cent.

A total of 2,708 stocks were actively traded in the market during the session. Of these, 2,096 stocks were trading in positive territory, while 612 were in the red. Among the 30 Sensex constituents, 23 stocks were trading higher on the back of sustained buying, whereas seven were under selling pressure. Similarly, 37 of the 50 Nifty constituents were trading with gains, while 13 were in negative territory.

The BSE Sensex opened 137.82 points higher at 77,192.76. However, selling pressure in the opening minutes dragged the index down to an intraday low of 77,072.53. Buyers soon returned to the market, driving the benchmark sharply higher. Within the first 15 minutes of trading, the Sensex had surged by nearly 600 points to touch 77,641.86. Some profit-booking later trimmed gains marginally. Amid continued buying and selling activity, the Sensex was trading 448.75 points higher at 77,503.69 at 10:00 a.m.

Similarly, the NSE Nifty opened 33.80 points higher at 24,085.85. Initial selling pressure pushed the index down to 24,069.05 shortly after the opening. Buyers then stepped in aggressively, lifting the benchmark. Within the first 15 minutes, the Nifty had climbed more than 160 points to reach 24,218.15. Subsequent mild profit-booking led to a slight pullback. By 10:00 a.m., amid continued buying and selling, the Nifty was trading 133.70 points higher at 24,185.75.

In the previous trading session on Tuesday, the Sensex had closed 561.46 points, or 0.72 per cent, lower at 77,054.94, while the Nifty had ended the day down 158.95 points, or 0.66 per cent, at 24,052.05.
