Spain created history in international football by defeating France 2-0 in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026, equalling Italy’s all-time record of 37 consecutive unbeaten international matches.
Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scored for Spain as the reigning European champions secured a place in the World Cup final. Spain will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Argentina and England in Sunday's final in New Jersey.
Spain has now gone 37 consecutive international matches without defeat, matching Italy’s all-time unbeaten streak of 37 matches set between 2018 and 2021.
The Spanish side is now on the verge of emulating its 2010 feat by winning both the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup.
