New Delhi, 15 July (H.S.): Global markets are indicating positive momentum today, with strong cues emerging from the United States and Europe. U.S. equity markets ended the previous session in positive territory, while Dow Jones Futures were also trading higher. European markets maintained their upward momentum during the previous session, and most Asian markets were trading with gains on Wednesday.

Wall Street closed higher in the previous session after major U.S. banks reported robust earnings and inflation data came in lower than market expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 0.02 per cent to close at 52,508.66. The S&P 500 Index advanced 0.38 per cent to settle at 7,543.59. The Nasdaq Composite surged 233.83 points, or 0.90 per cent, to finish at 26,107.01. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading 0.16 per cent higher at 52,590.23.

European markets also witnessed sustained buying in the previous session amid upbeat investor sentiment. The FTSE Index gained 0.30 per cent to close at 10,529.39. The CAC 40 advanced 0.33 per cent to end the session at 8,366.85, while Germany's DAX Index rose 0.13 per cent to close at 25,147.03.

Asian markets also displayed a broadly positive trend. Eight of the nine major Asian benchmark indices were trading in positive territory, while only one index remained in the red. China's stock market was the lone laggard, with the Shanghai Composite Index trading 0.08 per cent lower at 3,963.90.

On the other hand, GIFT Nifty climbed 182 points, or 0.76 per cent, to 24,196.50. Thailand's SET Composite Index advanced 0.78 per cent to 1,638.78. South Korea's KOSPI posted a sharp rally, rising 565.04 points, or 8.24 per cent, to 7,421.87.

Taiwan's Weighted Index also recorded strong gains, climbing 947.46 points, or 2.12 per cent, to 45,685.41. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 342.27 points, or 1.41 per cent, to 24,683. Japan's Nikkei Index gained 875.50 points, or 1.29 per cent, to trade at 68,619. Singapore's Straits Times Index advanced 0.97 per cent to 5,549.07, while Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index was up 0.54 per cent at 6,071.99.
