Lucknow, 14 July (HS): The Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway has

been bustling with vehicles on Tuesday morning. Drivers traveling on this

expressway at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour may not realize they are

traveling on the country's most expensive expressway. Drivers traveling on this

expressway will have to pay the highest toll compared to other major

expressways in the country. According to toll rates released by NHAI, the

one-way toll for cars, jeeps, and vans on this 63-kilometer-long expressway has

been fixed at Rs. 275. This translates to a toll per kilometer of approximately

Rs. 4.37, which is higher than on all other major expressways in the country.

In comparison, the toll per kilometer is Rs. 3.39 on the Mumbai-Pune

Expressway, Rs. 3.23 on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, and Rs. 3.21 on the Delhi-Dehradun

Expressway. On the Ganga and Yamuna Expressway, the rate is around Rs 2.55 per

kilometer, while on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway the toll is Rs 2.24, on the

Bundelkhand Expressway it is Rs 2.15 and on the Purvanchal Expressway it is Rs

1.99 per kilometer.

Rs. 1.14 per kilometer more than the Gorakhpur Link

Expressway: The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway's toll rate per kilometer is

approximately 71 percent higher than the Ganga and Yamuna Expressways and more

than double that of the Purvanchal Expressway. This is Rs. 1.14 per kilometer

more than the recently constructed Gorakhpur Link Expressway.

Tolls will be collected on-the-go from vehicles: According

to NHAI, this six-lane, fully access-controlled, barrier-free expressway will

have no toll plazas. Tolls will be collected on-the-go from vehicles using RFID

and ANPR technology. With the expressway's opening, travel time between Lucknow

and Kanpur will be reduced by approximately 50 minutes.

Speed up on the state's longest elevated expressway: The

state's longest elevated Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway opened for the public at 8

am on Tuesday. On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Road and

Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy

Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak inaugurated the expressway from Jhaukheda in

Unnao.

Vehicles will be able to travel at speeds of up to 120 km

per hour on the expressway. With the opening of the expressway, the journey

between Kanpur and Lucknow will be completed in 45 minutes.

Bareli, Sitapur, Hardoi, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur will benefit. The expressway

also connects to the Kanpur-Lucknow and Unnao-Lalganj (Rae Bareli) highways.

People will be able to access the expressway from both locations.

Multi-lane free flow tolling system. Toll will be automatically deducted

without stopping the vehicle through advanced FastTag and automatic number

plate recognition technology. Over 80 high- definition cameras, 16 video

incident detection systems, and speed radars have been installed along the

entire route. In case of an accident, help will arrive within 15 minutes. The

most expensive toll in the country: The toll per km on the Lucknow-Kanpur
