
Bhubaneswar, 14 July (H.S.): Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gesture of presenting Odisha's renowned Ikat (Bandha) silk to Indonesian Parliament Speaker Puan Maharani during his official visit to Indonesia, describing it as a proud moment for the state.
In a social media post, the Governor said the presentation celebrated Odisha's rich handloom heritage and showcased the exceptional craftsmanship of the state's weavers on the global stage.
He noted that the gesture also reflected the enduring historical and cultural ties between ancient Kalinga and Southeast Asia. Expressing his appreciation, Dr. Kambhampati said it was heartening to see Odisha's cultural legacy receiving international recognition through such a thoughtful diplomatic gesture.
The Governor said the Prime Minister's initiative highlighted the global appeal of Odisha's traditional handloom heritage while reinforcing the state's rich cultural identity.
