Lucknow, 13 July (HS): A new and golden history has been

created in Uttar Pradesh in the direction of environmental protection. Under

the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, the state has successfully

achieved the ambitious goal of planting a record 40 lakh saplings. Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a special Pati (letter) to the

people of the state to commemorate this historic achievement. The CM described

this Vriksharopan Mahayagna-2026 as a grand campaign of public

participation and called it a symbol of the strength and public resolve of the

new Uttar Pradesh.

Our civilization is called 'Aranya Sanskriti,' the Vedas

were composed in the forests: In his letter, the Chief Minister underscored the

profound importance of trees in Indian culture. He wrote, Our

civilization is called 'Aranya Sanskriti.' This is the sacred land where sages and

saints lived in the forests, composed the Vedas, Upanishads, and other great

scriptures, and contemplated the welfare of the people. This campaign is not

merely about environmental improvement, but a celebration of our eternal

consciousness. Referring to the Bhagavad Gita, he reminded that Lord

Krishna described the Peepal tree as his own form, and that according to

Ayurveda, every plant possesses medicinal properties.

A mass movement was formed with the inspiration of PM Modi,

figures are giving testimony: CM Yogi said that the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'

campaign, started with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has now

taken the form of a mass movement, which shows our gratitude towards nature.

Major increase in green cover: Between 2017 and 2023, a historic

increase of 3.38 lakh acres has been recorded in the forest and tree cover of

Uttar Pradesh.

Record figure: With this, the total green cover of the state

has now reached 9.96 percent.

Journey of 280 crores: So far, more than 280 crore saplings

have been planted in UP under various campaigns, which are the most effective

weapon in reducing carbon emissions and conserving biodiversity.

The Chief Minister's Emotional Call: Connect every auspicious

occasion in life with a tree. Concluding his letter, Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath made a deeply emotional and urgent appeal to every family in the

state. He urged every citizen to connect tree planting with the values and

joys of their lives.

Children's Birthday: On children's birthdays, the family

must plant a tree and take a pledge to protect and care for it.

Daughter's farewell: At the time of daughter's farewell, a

tradition should be started of planting a tree as a symbol of her love and

sweet memories of her parents' home.

Plant as many trees as possible on every auspicious occasion

like marriage, anniversary or any other auspicious occasion. The Chief Minister

expressed confidence that each plant planted and nurtured by the public will

become the strongest foundation of a green, safe and prosperous Uttar Pradesh

in the times to come.

“My esteemed fellow citizens of the state, Under the

Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026, the state has achieved a new milestone by

successfully meeting the target of planting 40 crore saplings in the 'One Tree

in Mother's Name' campaign. This is a triumphant proclamation of the newfound

strength of the 'New Uttar Pradesh' in the 'New India'. Encompassing gratitude

towards nature, responsibility towards future generations, and a message of

life conservation, this campaign is a grand festival of eternal consciousness. I

urge each one of you to integrate tree plantation with the rituals and

celebrations of your lives. By linking family auspicious occasions, festive

events, and special days with tree planting, we can fulfill our duty towards

nature. It is these saplings that will form the foundation of a green, secure,

and prosperous state for the coming generations.” he mentioned in a post on X.
