Bhubaneswar, 13 July (H.S.): Odisha has achieved significant milestones under the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, strengthening its efforts towards tuberculosis elimination through large-scale screening, preventive care and community participation.
The nationwide campaign, launched under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on March 24, 2026, was implemented across all 30 districts of Odisha under the leadership of the State TB Cell, Directorate of Public Health, Department of Health and Family Welfare.
During the campaign period from March 24 to July 5, Odisha organised 4,470 TB screening camps across urban, rural and remote areas, through which more than 5.18 lakh people were screened for tuberculosis. Over 3.44 lakh citizens participated in these health camps, reflecting strong public response and awareness.
As part of preventive measures, 9,013 household contacts of TB patients were initiated on TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) to reduce future transmission. Additionally, 28,348 Poshan Kits were distributed to TB patients under the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative to support nutritional recovery during treatment.
The campaign witnessed active participation from healthcare workers, district administrations, community organisations, educational institutions, corporate partners, volunteers and citizens. Awareness drives, outreach programmes and targeted interventions helped promote early diagnosis, treatment adherence and reduce stigma associated with tuberculosis.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare said the achievements reflect Odisha’s commitment towards accelerating TB elimination through innovation, community participation and coordinated efforts. The state will continue to strengthen screening, preventive care and patient support services to contribute towards the national goal of a TB-free India.
