Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Assam has witnessed a record recruitment drive in its college education sector, with 3,416 Assistant Professors appointed between 2021 and 2025, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu informed the Assembly on Monday.

The minister said replying to a question that such a large-scale recruitment in government colleges had never taken place in the state's history. He added that the appointments were made over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025.

Dr. Pegu credited the achievement to the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that the unprecedented recruitment drive in the higher education sector became possible under his government.------------
