Hooghly, 13 July (H.S.): The West Bengal government on Monday held a virtual coordination meeting with Rath Yatra committees from various districts from Nabanna ahead of the annual festival.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister conveyed his greetings to the organisers and urged them to ensure the Rath Yatra is conducted peacefully, safely and in an orderly manner.

Rath Yatra committees from districts across the state, except Kolkata and Howrah, participated in the virtual meeting.

From Hooghly district, representatives of the Mahesh Rath Yatra Committee, Balagarh-Guptipara Rath Yatra Committee, and Chandannagar Rath Management Committee attended the programme. The state government announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each for the three committees.

On the occasion, the Hooghly District Magistrate and officials of the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate handed over symbolic cheques to the representatives of the committees.

The District Magistrate appealed to the organisers to ensure the festival is conducted in a peaceful and well-organised manner and assured them of full administrative and police support during the Rath Yatra festivities.
