Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu has clarified on Monday in Assam Legislative Assembly that fabric made of 70% polyester and 30% cotton is not harmful to students under any circumstances.

Addressing concerns over school uniforms in reply to a question, the minister said the state government has introduced a quality-check mechanism to ensure better standards in the uniforms supplied to students.

He further informed the house that distributors found supplying substandard or irregular-quality fabric have been removed from the supply process to maintain quality and safeguard students' interests.-----------
