Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabarua on Monday issued a stern warning against alleged blackmail in the name of wildlife conservation, stating that such activities will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking in the Assam Legislative Assembly, the minister said that those indulging in blackmail by using wildlife-related issues as a pretext should be prepared to face legal action and imprisonment.

He asserted that the government would deal strictly with anyone attempting to misuse wildlife concerns for vested interests or to intimidate others.------------
