Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Assam Cabinet Minister Biswajit Daimary on Monday alleged that the Meghalaya Government's permission for illegal construction at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has led to severe artificial flooding in Jorabat and several parts of Guwahati.

Daimary said the government must take strict action against all illegal constructions, asserting that violations of environmental and construction norms cannot be allowed to continue.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, the minister said that while the opposition was indulging in dirty politics over the issue, the government remained committed to taking firm action against illegal constructions in the interest of the public.-----------
