Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika on Monday expressed concern over the wastage of valuable time during the Question Hour in the State Assembly, alleging that several MLAs remain absent despite notifying that they would raise questions.

Hazarika said many legislators inform the Assembly about their intention to ask questions during the Question Hour but fail to be present, resulting in the loss of crucial legislative time.

He urged Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das to take appropriate action against such absentee MLAs to ensure the effective functioning of the House.

Responding to the issue, Speaker Ranjit Kumar Das appealed to the leaders of all political parties to take necessary steps and ensure that their legislators remain present during the Question Hour after submitting questions.-----------
