Guwahati, 13 July (HS): Trinomul Congress MLA Sherman Ali on Monday levelled serious allegations against the Kalgachhia Police Station during the Assam Assembly session, claiming that criminals regularly gather at the police station at night and that the officer-in-charge openly accepts bribes from them.

Addressing the House, Ali remarked that there is a brokers' hub at Bhenser Police Station in Kalgachhia and alleged that middlemen operate freely from the premises. He further claimed that if a stone is thrown in Kalgachhia with closed eyes, it is likely to hit a broker.

The MLA alleged that despite repeated complaints to the Superintendent of Police and other senior police officials, as well as several reports on social media, no action has been taken against those involved. He urged the government to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action.----------
