
New Delhi, 13 July (H.S.): The Indian Navy's sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, has arrived in Boston after participating in the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence. Flying the Indian Tricolour with pride, the vessel took part in the prestigious Grand Parade of Sail, inaugurating Sail Boston 2026.
The sail training ship navigated past several iconic landmarks, including Castle Island and the Seaport District, before concluding the ceremonial procession at Boston Fish Pier.
Consul General of India in Boston, Raghuram Shastri, participated in the Grand Parade of Sail and boarded INS Sudarshini to formally welcome the vessel on its arrival in Boston. Joining an international fleet of more than 60 tall ships representing over 20 countries, INS Sudarshini served as India's maritime ambassador of goodwill during the event.
Reaffirming the Indian Navy's commitment to maritime diplomacy, international goodwill, and cultural exchange, the ship will remain open to visitors from July 12 to 15.
Following successful port calls at Norfolk, Baltimore, and New York, INS Sudarshini's participation in Sail Boston 2026 further reinforces the growing maritime partnership between India and the United States. The vessel has showcased India's rich maritime heritage on the global stage while strengthening bilateral strategic and cultural ties.
As part of the celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence, the Indian Naval Sail Training Ship (STS) INS Sudarshini represented India at the International Naval Review. Having completed its transoceanic voyage with a port call in New York, the ship has highlighted India's enduring maritime legacy while further deepening the strategic and cultural partnership between India and the United States.
