Ahead of the annual Shravani Mela, a new government bus service, 'Mahadev Express', was launched from Tarakeswar on Monday to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and other commuters.
The service was formally inaugurated at the Tarakeswar bus stand by Tarakeswar MLA Santu Pan.
Every year, lakhs of devotees visit the Tarakeswar temple during the holy month of Shravan. Keeping the expected rush in mind, the state government has introduced the special bus service to ensure safe, convenient and hassle-free transportation for pilgrims.
Speaking at the inauguration, MLA Santu Pan said the 'Mahadev Express' has been introduced to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience while travelling during the Shravani Mela. He added that the government would continue to improve public transport facilities for the benefit of commuters.
The launch of the new bus service has generated enthusiasm among devotees and local residents ahead of the festival. The administration expects the 'Mahadev Express' to play a key role in managing passenger movement during the Shravani Mela.
